Biala (byala) bulletin

Well an update, as Mary mo says the top end of the main road is being dug up for water hydrants (I think) On last years performance they will call in a crew before the main season opens and thus greet the tourists with a brand new surface. (Well we can hope?) The council is still steaming ahead with...

taxis from sunny beach to bourgas 2010

If you were to walk 5 mins to the bus stop it would cost you a mere 5 lev each way for the trip. We are just back and done it. Taxis are about the only thing in BG that are as expensive as in other countries. In Obzor we called into the 'tourist office' to ask for bus time table from there to Biala ...

how many are leaving,2010?

Have to say, even if people leave the experience may not have been wasted. We discovered even within Ireland 35 years ago the move from urban to rural was such a cultural change that we couldn't bear it. I thought the poster who referred to the difference in sense of humour was spot on. Even if you ...

prices of houses

Houses are worth what you can sell them for... we didn't buy to make a profit we bought a house inland in a thriving village close to a city,. We thought we had it all sussed as a retirement hoiday home option..but then my dear wife fell in love with the seaside and that was the end of that dream. S...

Inflated maintainence charges

Agree with posters that the charges are a worry at the back of ones mind..We are just hoping that the fact that most other owners in our bloc are Bulgarians and Russians might offer some protection. I would say they are more likely to have checked the legalities properly and less likely to have 'mug...

Question from a small island

Just a point. Ireland and the rest of Britain might have been united in one state before independence,-but that does not mean they were 'One Nation' at that stage...any definition of a nation assumes a common culture and economic interest and a perception of shared nationhood. That never was the cas...
