Just had a look at the wizzair website and it looks like Varna is back on the map again for next spring to London. They've posted a schedule although haven't uploaded fares yet

The Hotel city Mark has reopened next to the fountains and Mango in the centre of Varna. I asked last week how much a double room was and its normally 65 leva, but for July they have a 25% discount. Its 3 star and pretty good for the money.

Not trying to confuse the issue, I also went to Cyprus last month which is also not part of schengen with my Ukrainian wife, departing from Romania and we were fine without getting the visa in advance. According to the Bulagrian embassy website in London, you can travel together without a visa to Bulgaria. It says 'Family members, travelling together with the EU citizen does not require a visa, but should be in a position to present on request at the border a Marriage Certificate or Birth Certific...

I've driven my bg registered car several times to Ukraine which is in my company name. They have never asked for proof that I own the company and all i've done is handed over the green card and 'talonche' to the border guards.
