No, wishful thinking Im afraid. If the base rate was negative, any loan you get will have an interest rate set above this rate and will track the base rate up and down if its pegged to it and not fixed. The base rate is basically the rate the banks borrow from the central bank and the interest above...

It means your mortgage/loan repayments may be less but your savings will earn less interest! Its really a bad time to be a saver and that for me is another obstacle to saving towards getting on the housing ladder, although I might get a better deal if I am able to obtain a mortgage. Interest rates h...

A lie would be a bit harsh, some bad choices maybe.....but I could never have guessed the full implications, cant say I regret it as a lifestyle choice though so there is a silver lining and maybe the future will be brighter for Bulgaria if the west stops stealing all its population to pay its debts...

I think this punitive tax will die as its now just a drag on the market which has enough stacked against it already, I am expecting it to change in the Autumn budget which I think is in December. I will be very unhappy if I am wrong but anyway I am already very disillusioned at my current situation ...

That's great news, unless of course you own more than one property, if you own one UK property only you will moving within the same market! I am 38 and despite a reasonable job I have not achieved a property in the UK yet. In fact the sky high prices were the reason I chose to buy in Bulgaria instea...

Thanks for the response Houseman, I guess your right it has to still be possible, its possible all around the world. I'm sure it must be a bind to have to submit annual returns every year, however I was considering renting though and from that point of view I will need to submit some sort of tax fro...

Property held in company name (apartment) is it possible

Is it still possible to hold a Bulgarian property as it was before EU assecssion (apartment) in a company name rather than your own name and if so what are there any problems/taxes/annual returns associated with doing so....is it best avoided, major headache or relatively simple? What is the process...

I might try Mat if I could but the window of opportunity has closed and a purchase must complete before the April deadline to avoid the additional tariff and we all know how slow the process (especially lawyers) can be! I hope your right on the Zoopla thing but most sources seem to agree on this wit...

It took me a year to get a mortage Matt and made attempts at three banks, ended up paying it all on credit cards. When I eventually tried Piraues they had it all sorted within three months and were very helpful, especially as they have a branch in London who would ensure any questions and worries I ...

Good point Mat, guess most people would not declare it although if they get caught I believe penalties are substantial. My mortgage is with Piraues who have branch in London and it is on my experian report, so no escape for me!
