MW I took a gander at your suggestion, and was excited to see that the delivery price is £24.99 for a 30kg box to Bulgaria. But then I compared the prices of 4 random products Heinz Sandwich Spread - Tesco £1.25 BCS £2.29 Robertsons Golden Shredless Marmalade - Tesco £1.05 BCS £2.09 Aunt Bessie's Ch...

Hi Marymo,
the Christmas of 2006 (our first) there was no snow at all, just a sprinkling of powdery stuff on the ground for half a day, but the sun melted it all away. We thought wow, we like it, until Christmas 2007 was different, and then 2008 was the worst we ever experienced.

Tomkin,
Thank you for such a heartfelt, and real post. I can relate to everything you have said (apart from the animal situation)
The problem is I don't relish going back to the UK either.
Thank you once again for such a real and alternative account.

Re: New Cards

We are due to renew soon and I want to know if they are still asking for a EHIC/ E111card and also a notarized statement stating that we will not claim any form of social security in Bulgaria. I just want to know what to expect when we visit the KAT/Police Station. They shouldn't be asking for the ...

Armed with the list you describe Liliana, we went to the Yambol office last week, as we like to be organised and was told we could do it this early, and have been told to come back no earlier than 1 month before the expiry date. However I am unsure we will get permanent residency, we have been told ...

The health service is cheaper here if you are fit and well as you can choose to pay as you go, in the UK you might not use it for years but you have no choice but to pay it. Nikki Not everyone has found success with paying into the health fund here, some have paid into it for years and then been to...

We didn't get a lot of incentive to vote when many of our village friends said they weren't going to bother and we didn't vote the last mayor in (as we weren't eligible to then) but we have still been able to talk to her and ask for help with some things over the past 4 years so it's not like it's b...

My EHIC card ran out 2 years ago, and I never used it before that, plus it's only for emergency treatment while on holiday abroad so no use for us residents. Not everyone has found success with paying into the health fund here, some have paid into it for years and then been told they can't and don't...

We didn't want to vote as we don't know enough about politics in general and have the opinion that they are all as bad as one another anyway. The other thing is why bother when it can never be fair when large numbers of the population have been 'bought' anyway. I'm glad we didn't bother after readin...
