Whichever one you chose, make sure that they dont deduct the 10% non resident tax on interest. I had a problem with a bank who insisted that non Bulgarians must pay this, so moved mine to Alpha bank. Just bring your residence card along to prove you live here.

I read it the same way as you moscowwolf. The biggest risk is if the airline refuse to let her board. Im also confident from the reply and other sources that we could have one issued at the border and as we have no time now to apply for a visa, we're just going to have to risk it. It is a permanent residence card, and doesnt say long term. I asked for it specially as ive been here 7 years and it makes a difference to my wifes status as she is Ukrainian. She was also issued permanent residence and it states "family member" on her card. We used it to travel to Romania this week...

I think there is a difference in the types of ID cards that they issue us Brits, based on what has been written before. I got my new ID card in June and it has a photo, my address on the back and it says "residence card". Also, its valid until 2020, whereas my passport expires in 2015.
