I tend to agree with Moscow Wolf on this, there is a right perfectly legal way of doing this. Not the only way and we all know there are other ways of doing things using the usual method, but this will be more expensive and opens you up to problems. I also would rather not risk it. You can buy a car...

So, we AGREE that it is a legal requirement to have an OFFICIAL REGISTERED Interpreter if ONE of the two parties is not Bulgarian and cannot prove that he/she speaks and understands the language well enough? How one proves the latter, I do not know, but I assume that if you have a recognised qualif...

Buying /selling a car

We recently sold a car in Shumen, it was written in the notary office that an interpreter is needed if any of the parties are not Bulgarian and the Notory insisted it is law. Maybe you can get round this using the usual method :wink: but that is officially the situation.

I noticed that when I was in Varna in June, lot of Russians. Flights are expensive from Russia to boot, more than from the UK. I think I may have to concentrate in that area next year. Was hoping to pick up some locals this year, have feelers out with 3 Bulgarian agencies but so far not a sniff Thin...
