Thanks eveyone, thanks Maza, as I use Skype 'free calls' for my landline calls, then I now realise that maybe I am best staying with that system. OK I have a few kids on mobiles, but most of all I try to use the UK landline phones whenever possible, so maybe a contract is not the best for me right n...

Hi there. We are also in the Elhovo region, about 20 mins drive to the centre of Elhovo for us, so we go there often. Some nice areas to visit around here, sure that you will really enjoy finding them out as you start to get out and about a bit more.

Thank you Simon Trace. But I have a question, what is an MF stove, not heard of that. As for my stove, well I bought it this year, and 'think' its quite a modern one, at least that is what everyone who sees it says, not quite like the normal BG petchka thingy. What I did find though, is that every d...

I HATE the wood burning stove. Any alternatives please.

OK, spent our first winter in BG, and the old petchka in the lounge kept the whole house toasty warm, no probs, except that it has made the whole house really grubby and dirty. Walls are all about 10 shades darker which look horrible, so have spent the last week decorating all through the house. Sur...

If you have made a good friend of one of your Bulgarian neighbours, then you can leave money with them and they can pay it for you when they go to pay yours. No need to leave any documents with them for this, they just go to the post office on 'lekky pay day' and the lady there will have your bill. ...

Buying gas BEFORE 6 p.m.

I have no idea if this is right, but its what I have been told. Two different people have told me recently, that a new rule has come out for gas stations, that they cannot fill gas bottles before 6 p.m. in the evenings. I have no idea why, or is this is correct or not. So was wondering if anyone on ...

Came here in July last year knowing absolutely nothing about gardening veg. So I asked my BG neighbour Maria to teach me how to grow veg the Bulgarian way. Well as her garden was totally bountifull with veg and mine was an unused wilderness, much of my gardening skills last year were learnt in her g...
