House Insurance arranged in the UK?

Postby dougncarole » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:47 pm

Hi

Does anyone know the web site / email address of an insurance company or broker who would be able to arrange our house insurance via the internet rather than in person.

Unfortunately our current insurance runs out soon and we aren't able to return to Bulgaria for sometime.

Any advice would be appreciated. I have tried to contact 'hdi' on email but it hasn't been sent due to an error nor am I able to get through on the phone. I have tried to call a few other companies but to no success.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Carole

Hi Carole

I posted this link earlier, I have just arranged my insurance through them, the policy looks really good and is backed by Hiscox with 2 million public liability. You put in your details and they call you back with the price and arrange the cover for you, very friendly service.

Good luck

Hi -

try Underwoods insurance in Newport, Gwent - tel no 01633 247700. I used to insure my car with them for years until I moved out of the area. I phoned them recently and got insurance for our house in BG - similar price to Zakorkaman. They were recommended on here.

This company was posted on another thread in the past,I kept it for future reference. I have not used it myself, I insured with DZI in BG.

Might be worth a try.

Hi Carole,

These Lloyds brokers apparently specialise in BG property. They are not a full online service but might be of interest for comparison. The public liability cover is £1m and the unoccupied property conditions/excesses don't look too daunting. Interestingly they will pay up to £500 for you to go out following an insured incident. You'll see their phone contact no. on their home page.http://www.holmans.co.uk/ProposalForms/HGF/Overseas%20Summary%20of%20Cover.pdf

Earthquake seems to be covered on the standard UK Equity Red Star policy but check this extends to Bulgarian property. Hope this helps

Contacted Intasure and got a good quote. However, I dont have an actual address as my house is "up a hill just outside of the village". How does the company know what to insure or what do you do for an address when getting the insurance. Anybody been in this situation?

Hi Villyman

What do you pay your electric against? Not sure how it works for a House as we have an apartment and that is very straight forward, You must have the plot details your house sits on, how about using that.
Keep us informed as it will be interesting to find out how it woeks
Cheers

Hi rossmark68,

Going there next week to sort "first" electric bill and meet with agent. I'm hoping he will shed some light on this one.
