I don't believe that tax is deducted from saving accounts in Bulgaria. Of course you would have to declare it as income on your UK tax forms... :D

We are just opening a couple of saving accounts, the leva one will get 12 % after a year, going up on a sliding scale until then, and the euro one is 9% I think. You can deposit up to 2000 leva a month, and withdraw at any time but you have to give a little bit of notice that you will be doing so.

Hi Leedarkwood,

What's the name of the bank where you receive 12% after one year?

Co-Op were doing around 6.25% on 3 month (leva) deposits a couple of months ago, when we switched, at the end of the year, from an annual one that had been giving about the same. That had then gone up to approx. 8.25%.

Interest rates vary all the time. The rates I've quoted are probably out of date, two months later. A couple of months back First Investment had an excellent deal on monthly deposits but that was time limited.

Not the best deal, but with my bank,Unicredit, gave me 6% for 1 year, and take the interest immediately.I think rates vary according to the amount to be invested,so you will probably get better than that if it is true.I just asked for the best I could get for the amount I had to invest with them. That is for lev though.

Thanks for the reply osacr. I know my bank first investment offers 7.2% on leva and euro if monety tied up for 1 year.

I am really hoping to get 8% plus though and don't mind putting the money away for 2.3 or whatever tears for the right rate

Anybody come acroos any good deals

steve
