Only in Bulgaria

Postby troyan » Wed Sep 07, 2016 8:48 pm

One reason I like BG is because it is a bit off the wall.....sometimes off the dial

A week ago I got a speeding fine for a jeep I sold 8 years ago, so made a few enquiries as to how I could solve the issue, I sold it all above board through a Notario.I got various versions of what I could do as is usually the case.

I knew where the jeep was as I saw it a few times passing through Teteven so I thought lets go to Teteven and have a day out, its a nice town and a nice drive over the pass and through Ribaritsa......and see if we could track the owner down.

So off we went and the jeep wasnt there so to the Police station who said I must go to Troyan to deal with it there although the speeding fine was issued in Targovishte and the owner was in Teteven.

So after a nice walk around the town, I decided to ask around where the jeep was normally parked and low and behold the owner turned up and he gave me the money for the fine.......he said he had been a bit busy to change the registration, which was 8 years ago, he seemed delighted to see me and we all lived happily ever after

A bit later as is often the case I found myself climbing down a mountain to see some land and ended up with a car full of vegetables and fruit......

How nice. Our dealings in BG with local people have been similarly pleasant.

In my years in BG (1991-2008) I had very few bad moments with Bulgarians. I crossed swords with a few foreigners - mainly Anglos !
