I have never used Penny Market (there is not one close to us) so personally I will not miss them but I have always been of the opinion it is better to have a good variety of places to shop and any competition between the stores can only be a good thing.

We tend to check the catalogues for Kaufland, Lidl and Billa on line before we shop so as to take advantage of any offers available. We grow most of our own fruit and vegetables but have noticed that often, supermarkets are cheaper or at least on par price wise with the main fruit/vegetable markets, though I would suspect (but do not know) that the fruit/vegetable markets produce is fresher.

I drove to penny market yesterday to grab a few cheap deals before it shut down, when i got there i couldnt even get in the car park it was full of cars.

After around 5 mins i got parked ,walked up to the doors only to find they had closed the day before, and all the cars parked in the carpark were because a football match was on over the road.
Ah well such is life
