Hello Jonmen,

Momchilovgrad is a small ordinary town with no attractiveness at all. More than half of the population are Muslim there.Poor and underdeveloped region, where the tobacco growing is the main industry. Also it is not close to Pamporovo at all. Maybe in comparison with all Bulgarian resorts Pamporovo is the closest resort, but close is exaggerated and definately pamporovo can not be poited out as a resource of Momchilovgrad

Jonmen, while all that bulgarian says is true, I still think the area has some potential. There are a lot of historical sites, two lovely lakes that are great for watersports fishing and swimming and it is very close to Greece with a check point some 20km from Momchilovgrad due to open soon. If wishing to buy in a town I think Kardjali - 15km form Momchilgrad and the regional administrative centre - is the better choice as it is greener, with less of a turkish minority, more going on while still preserving a small town feel. The villages along the lakes are deffinetly worth a look as well.
