My Bulgaria has now updated its information page regarding gaining Visas and Long Term Stay Certificates for entering Bulgaria post-EU. Much research has gone into making the information given as accurate as possible – no mean task considering the amount of contradictory advice and opinion available along every step of the way. However, we are confident that our new guide is correct but if anyone thinks otherwise we would be glad to hear why so that it can be amended as needed!

We have also tried to make it user-friendly….!

Regarding proof of health cover. We thought that pensioners were now covered by reciprocal health care when living full time in BG, do they need any different documents when applying for the five year certificate, or is everyone classed the same?

Undoubtedly this is covered elsewhere but as many Bulgarians pay for additional health cover you are not going to get much more than basic emergency treatment. Certainly I don't think that you will find any district nurses, physiotherapy or out patient care, much like Spain - but worse (or less).

If any body knows otherwise please let us know!
