She has achieved a lot in her her life, overcome MRSA after many corrective surgery operations that she has had to undergo. Today we have been asked to help with the appeal of the National Star College, Katie attended the college for 3 years and would tell you that she would not have achieved in her life what she has without having attended this fantastic college. To look at what this college has to offer, please if you have time, look at www.natstar.ac.uk below is the appeal that they have sent us.
Urgent Action Needed - Please help us to push for the funding pledge to be honoured
National Star College is in the middle of a major capital development programme to ensure we can best meet the requirements of current and future students. An essential part of our development plan is funding from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC)/Government for 50% of the costs, which was agreed in 2006
With the development half completed, we were forced to put work on hold earlier in the year when the LSC announced they had severely overcommitted their funding to colleges and as a result put a stop on all funding.
Since then we have been working through a process to bid for the last remaining funding that was released in the Government's Budget in April
AT THE END OF JUNE, WE HEARD THAT WE WERE NOT ON THE LIST OF PROJECTS TO BE CONTINUED TO RECEIVE FUNDING. IN EFFECT, THE FUNDING THAT WAS PROMISED IN 2006 HAS NOW BEEN WITHDRAWN.
We are determined to make a case that the decision should be reviewed and that the Government should find a way to honour the funding pledge that was made. With the support of our local MPs, the Prime Minister has agreed that a meeting will be held in early July with the Further Education Minister to discuss our case (still not been held)
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We have set up an on line petition on the Prime Minister's website at:
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/NationalStar
Please sign up to the petition, pass it on and encourage others to sign up
Thank you on Katies behalf for taking the time to read this and please sign the petition.
Once again from Katie Thank You
