Postby nan2pop » Fri Aug 26, 2011 4:34 pm

Hi all thinking of picking up some baccy in belguim on the way back to the Uk does anyone know what the allowance is I hear it said for your own use but what is that we are taking it back for our children but don't want to have to pay a huge bill at the border. What is the amount of tax we could have to pay does anyone know thanks for any advice.

the allowance for tobacco bought in an eu country is 3kilo's or 60 *50kg packets for your own use, amounts above this may well be queried by HM customs. the tobacco bought in EU countries is already taxed and no further tax is payable as long as you keep within the limits advised.
