Hi Moosty

Nearest ski slopes are at Uzana, 20 kms SW of Gabrovo.
Not at all comercialised, and apparently, very cheap !! I,ve been told there is a black run. Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Hi !
We've just been in VT for a week and went to Uzana for a day. We had a fab day! The weather was wonderful and the snow was great! We did the longest run there (I think it's nearly 2km) - thank goodness we ski as it is not for beginners - it is quite steep. I know it's only a tiny resort, but it's better than nothing and wonderful to be out in the fresh air and surrounded by stunning scenery. After 3 hours skiing, we had lunch of soup and Mousaka. A lovely day had by all.

Ah, Uzana, the ski resort that isn't a resort - or is it? Those who have been around a while will remember the great Uzana debate - http://www.mybulgaria.info/modules.php? ... na&start=0

Walkage, I'm not sure of the lifespan of a mod once it has hatched, but if it is longer than 5 years and they have a memory of the above thread, there is no way they would be seen in a resort (that may not be a resort) unless they were in training for the Bulgarian Biathlon championships. Mods do have some pride, you know.

I've been to Uzana and I wouldn't class it as "a ski resort" altho the OP only asked for a ski run, Uzana would fit this perfectly as its just down the road.

I'm not a skier , but some skiers seek out virgin snow , and aren't bothered by the lack of facilities . Years ago I went climbing in the Atlas mountains ,and the place was full of skiers that climbed up with snow shoes to the highest point they could get , and skied back down to the hut . Who needs resorts and chairlifts ? If you're a real skier you don't need them , go it alone . Tim .
