Does anyone know,or had any experience with,scrapping a car in bg.
i knew someone who front-ended his car and got 200lv for it.
This van is in full working order with some body damage (small dent in door and bonnet folded where thieving bas***ds tried to steal battery) but the engine is good.
all help will be greatly appreciated..

I think it is just kat, You turn up with all the vehicle docs including all the receipts to prove all the "little" taxes are paid and the numberplates. I am not 100% sure as I have never done it but it did come up in a discussion in the bar one night.

Yes, with this information we could give a better idea of what it is worth. I sometimes buy the ALO ads paper and there are always runners and non runners advertised in there for repair or spare parts.

I drove an English plated escort over to Bulgaria and scrapped it in Stara Zagora. there where two dealers interested in the car.Both offering 400lev. I think the act that it was a 1.8 TD helped. It had a rear end shunt but it was not that obvious, the rear tailgate did not meet the rubbers on the side of the car frame.

While thinking over the deal somebody offered me the same money to take it off my hands, they worked in the motor industry and took copies of the V5,MOT and passport photo page. I was asked to sign a receipt in Bulgarian for which I added my own paragraph just to be sure. I had the buyer fill in the new owner part of the V5.

On my return to England I posted the V5 to the DVLA and the document that I no longer owned the car.

That was March 2009 and up to now I have had no comeback

The car only cost me £150 ,towed a full trailer to BG so I was quite pleased. I would have preferred to part ex but this seems alien to the area.

We have just scrapped our ford escort.

The local scrap yard owner came to see it, agreed 400 leva and it was towed away. We called at the scrap yard and got paid, and received the number plates. On Monday we got to Kat where we are told they will cut up the large talon document, photocopy it, and then we got back to the scrapyard with the photocopy. As far as we know that is it, but we will report back afterwards.
