Yes the direction is the northern sky Most of them only last a fraction of a second about 10% last long enough to see a trail in the sky, And about 1% are long enough and bright enough to be called a true shooting star.

I've been noticing those myself during the past few nights, usually moving from South to North at a rapid rate of knots. Never ever seen them before and one would suspect UFO's. :P

They apperently are at their peak tonight so we should see some no bother as long as we can stay awake long enough lol
