Buying gas BEFORE 6 p.m.

Postby Cameo » Fri Mar 20, 2009 7:19 am

I have no idea if this is right, but its what I have been told.

Two different people have told me recently, that a new rule has come out for gas stations, that they cannot fill gas bottles before 6 p.m. in the evenings. I have no idea why, or is this is correct or not. So was wondering if anyone on here has heard similar stories, and if they are true or not. We normally fill our gas bottles when we go to the market on a Saturday mornings, so if its right, then this will mean a special 'evening trip' to Elhovo just to fill the darned gas bottles.

I filled my bottles on Wednesday at Midday.

Don't see the point in such a rule :?: if it is true.

Filling gas bottles before 6pm

Postby valleyboy » Fri Mar 20, 2009 9:12 am

Don't know about the 6pm rule but I have heard that you cannot get bottles refilled in the Veliko Turnovo area any more because of some exploding! Is this true? Does anyone know what you have to do now if it is???

Hi,
I have found the best way is to use shell bottles. 60lev to buy and 19-90lev for the gas. Staightforward exchange one for one and the bottle is checked and sealed by the company so no fear of explosions. some of the dodgy garages will fill to 100% and that presents a bit of a risk factor. 80% is the max you should fill to.

Hi all,

This topic is for discussing the specific issue of whether or not you can only buy Gas after 6pm.

A more general thread on Bottled Gas can be found here;

in Kavarna we can only fill the gas bottles after 7pm.

They will only put a maximum of 18 levs worth of gas in them.

That explains the little mystery of why, no matter if there was some gas in the bottle or not, it was always 22 leva to refill.

thanks mod for your reprimand, you seem rather like my old headmaster, but hes been dead for over thirty years.
Back to the point. If you buy from a reputable source, and that source is open 24/7 then you can buy 24/7. I see no point in skulking around after 6 or 7 pm to save a few stotinki. These sources supply a checked bottle with an approved seal which is safe to use and are a replacement for the empty one.
