Gashead.
if you are in BG, see a local lawyer and get them to do a wee bit of paperwork and get the 5 year residency as a eu citizen. It only takes a couple of days in Dobrich and you get a lichna Karta.
You need a EHIC card, and a couple of bits and pieces. I used a local lawyer in kavarna but did it on the basis of marriage.
The requirements are here.

Definitely everyone should have their residency visas in place BEFORE March 29, when the UK leaves the EU, however it's not necessary to go to the expense of a lawyer, simply go to your lócal immigration office with a Bulgarian friend or ´helper' and necessary documents, and fill out a form - questions are in English as well as Bulgarian and most simply require you to tick a box though you do need to write your name in Bulgarian (this is where your friend might be needed), but do it SOON
And remember, EHICs will not be valid anywhere in the EU after March 29

Had to renew Alice's Residence card, and also exchanged my uk licence to a bg one, registered with the bulgarian health insurance fund and all done without any tranlators here in Dobrich as it was all pretty easy.

We got fed up waiting for our useless politicians to come up with an answer so took the plunge and engaged a lawyer from Sofia to get us a residency card. Surprisingly it was quite easy and within a week the whole thing was done and dusted. We now have in our possession residency cards allowing us to come and go as much and for as long as we want. Brilliant
