May be worth looking at Austrian to Heathrow they fly several times a week, then an internal flight here.

I have just found the following on Balkan flight only

29th July rtn 12th Aug. flight no BGH5556 dep 1740 arr bourgas 23.30

12th Aug flight no BGH5555 dep 1500 arr Glasgow 1640

I've used Malev & wizzairr before have you tried those? not sure where they fly from/to as I normally go from london way as works out cheaper, we had a brilliant deal with malev last but if you don't mind a connection (its easy ) and yes like you say we have seen an increase for this years flights too

Bulgaria Air , Heathrow-Sofia are not the cheapest , but do include 20kg checked baggage in the price , and tube into London is much cheaper than train , so for me can be a good deal . Tim

Just had an email from Balkan saying its 10% of for the next 5 days, cannot get the discount to work , but will let you know when they reply to my query. Tried Wizz, but after luggage it was way over the Balkan price. Austrian Air have dropped another £10 each a flight, but still not worth us travelling from up North

Trudyt, try KLM to Schipol then on to Sofia.

I did this to/from Newcastle last November - it worked really well. KLM also fly from various other Northern airports.

I use a site called Skyscanner to find the best available flights; they give all options, including Wizz and Easyjet.

Thomas Cook airlines are to fly to Varna from Manchester and Birmingham in 2018.

This is good news just looked this up and yes they are flying from Birmingham & Manchester starting may through to September I will give then a go fed up with wizzair .
