Here�s a question, has anyone found a substitute for Disinfectant I.E. Dettol or other brands been looking for 3 years no joy yet.

Dettol contains Chloroxylenol which I believe is more antiseptic than disinfectant, but I might be wrong.

The stuff in the bottles in your first aid kit carried in your car is a good disinfectant for cuts and wounds, but is Hydrogen Peroxide usually around 3 -3.5%

When it runs out, just take the bottle into any chemist and they'll sell you another one.

How it works

Although the above link says it is not a good antiseptic, I've used it on deep cuts and even where a finger has been cut off - my patients always arrived at the hospital with clean wounds.

I think that some of the British Food suppliers sell Dettol or at least can bring it over from the UK.
