I would be interested to meet anybody who has constructed one of these "flat-packed" houses anywhere in Bulgaria as I have one or two plots where I could put one but slightly hesitant about the whole process. Is it easy? I presume you need planning permission and all the rest of it?
Has anybody here actually completed this type of project?

I looked into this some time ago, but shipping containers in Bulgaria are hard to come by and expensive.
There is a company in Sofia that sells 'units' which can be shells or completely kitted out for living. The deliver on to your prepared site.
Talked to a bloke in Bourgas who had bought and sited quite a few of these which he said worked well and were reasonably priced.
At the time I costed it I worked out a figure of around 10k euros for site work, cost of unit & delivery.
Might be worth thinking about.

It was a lot more than a container office!
Fully kitted out with boiler, electrics, insulation, double glazing and price included groundworks for siting, utilities connections & delivery on site.
Someone on a forum who lives in Bg makes and supplies prefab houses. Brianj42 might be able to help, or another name (cant remember) Worth asking. If I remember the other name I will tell.
Friend of mine used to make them in Samokov but stopped a couple of years ago - however someone may have kept the business going as they were starting to sell in the Baltics I believe. If you're in Sofia, ask for One Eyed Nick in McCarthy's (I'm not joking). He's an Australian with, let's say, significant life experience...
