There are cheaper areas to look at, but you have to ask yourself why - there aren't many Bulgarians left who don't know the price of things. Also, many don't fancy the coast, ski resorts or the hot and dusty plains. There is growing interest in something a bit different, traditional village life with a beautiful time-gone-by quality of life - this might be also be for you....especially if you like the idea of a nearby European Capital.
